Types of Treatment

As experts in individualized care, we offer an array of treatment options so that we can find the right solution to meet your needs. At your initial consultation, we will review the treatment options that will work best for your case. The list below contains short explanations of the treatments we offer.

Invisalign®

Invisalign consists of a set of clear and removable aligners that will steadily move your teeth into their correct positions without using braces. These aligners are completely compatible with any lifestyle because you can remove them to eat, drink, or brush your teeth. Invisalign is very popular amongst adults but can also be used on teenagers.

What are the benefits of early orthodontic evaluation?

Early evaluation provides both timely detection of problems and greater opportunity for more effective treatment. Prudent intervention guides growth and development, preventing serious problems later. When orthodontic intervention is not necessary, an orthodontist can carefully monitor growth and development and begin treatment when it is ideal.

Why is age 7 considered the optimal time for screening?

By the age of 7, the first adult molars erupt, establishing the back bite. During this time, an orthodontist can evaluate front-to-back and side-to-side tooth relationships. For example, the presence of erupting incisors can indicate possible overbite, open bite, crowding or gummy smiles. Timely screening increases the chances for an incredible smile.

What are the advantages of interceptive treatment?

Some of the most direct results of interceptive treatment are:

  • Creating room for crowded, erupting teeth
  • Creating facial symmetry through influencing jaw growth
  • Reducing the risk of trauma to protruding front teeth
  • Preserving space for unerupted teeth
  • Reducing the need for tooth removal
  • Reducing treatment time with braces

Are you a candidate for orthodontic treatment?

Orthodontics is not merely for improving the aesthetics of the smile; orthodontic treatment improves bad bites (malocclusions). Malocclusions occur as a result of tooth or jaw misalignment. Malocclusions affect the way you smile, chew, clean your teeth or feel about your smile.

Why should malocclusions be treated?

According to studies by the American Association of Orthodontists, untreated malocclusions can result in a variety of problems:

  • Crowded teeth are more difficult to properly brush and floss, which may contribute to tooth decay and/or gum disease.
  • Protruding teeth are more susceptible to accidental chipping.
  • Crossbites can result in unfavorable growth and uneven tooth wear.
  • Openbites can result in tongue-thrusting habits and speech impediments.

Ultimately, orthodontics does more than make a pretty smile – it creates a healthier you.

Metal Braces

Metal braces are the tried and true method of straightening your teeth. The metal braces we use are a more modern version of the traditional braces because they are self-ligating. This means that each bracket has a small door which makes your wire changes much faster and easier. These doors also serve to allow you to clean your teeth clean more easily. We are proud to offer our patients the gentlest wires available. These wires are also long-lasting which means you will have a longer period between appointments.

Metal Braces

Many children in this age range undergo orthodontic treatment, and children are very often able to be convinced to wear braces because they see their friends wearing them too, and want to fit in.Besides the benefits of fitting in with their friends, children at this age are growing rapidly, and orthodontists can usually take advantage of these growth spurts to help shape the bite and teeth correctly. And children at this age have high metabolisms, which can help shorten overall treatment time and reduce the discomfort of orthodontic treatment.

Limited Treatment

Limited treatment is a treatment solution offered to patients who require only minor tooth movement. A variety of methods are used depending on what is needed. Limited treatment is popular amongst patients who have had orthodontic treatment before and are only looking for a “touch-up”.

Limited Treatment

Orthodontic treatment at later stages in life can dramatically improve your personal appearance and self-esteem. Improving the health of your teeth and gums is equally important. Crooked teeth and a bad bite can contribute to gum and bone loss, tooth decay, abnormal wear of the tooth enamel and surfaces, headaches and jaw joint (TMJ/TMD) pain.

Good news! The new techniques and appliances we use greatly reduce discomfort levels, decrease the frequency of visits, shorten treatment time and allow you to choose from several options. Your options may include metal braces, translucent braces or transparent aligners that can be worn to improve mild cases of misaligned teeth.

During the initial examination, we will be able to determine the best possible treatment for your individual needs. We will present you with the advantages of each option and decide what treatment is best for you. During this initial examination, we can outline the treatment plan, time of treatment expected and the approximate cost.

A large percentage of our patients are adults, and they agree that it’s never too late to improve their greatest asset – their smile.

iTero® Digital Impression System

White Rock Orthodontics is excited to offer iTero Element digital impression system to our patients. This state-of-the-art scanner allows us to scan your teeth and create a 3-D model of your teeth without the need to take traditional impressions. The 3D model can then be sent to various dental laboratories to make the appliance that you need specifically to fit your teeth.

iTero® Digital Impression System

An exciting feature is that we can scan your teeth while you are about to finish your treatment with braces but have not had them removed yet. In this case, the lab can digitally remove your braces to make perfectly-fitting retainers that will be ready at your next appointment where you will have your braces removed.

The iTero scans are much more accurate than traditional impressions and also reduce the time it takes to get your aligners and appliances made because they can be sent to the lab digitally.

White Rock Orthodontics is committed to constantly research and acquire the latest techniques and technology to help make our patients’ treatment more comfortable and efficient.
